Born in 1968 on the November 6th is the man called c. Orphaned at two years, Jerry was raised by his widowed mother an English teacher by profession. Jerry Yang is a name that is synonymous with the most popular internet site Yahoo.
Yahoo is deemed as the highest internet traffic network. It is believed that all internet users in the world have a yahoo mail account although lately we have seen the influx of other email service providers like msn, g mail, and a host of others, but the most traditional and most used is yahoo mail.
Used for both office and personal use, yahoo is still a dominating brand among all email service providers.
On the 17th of January, Jerry Yang resigned from his prestigious job as co founder and C.E.O of yahoo inclusive of all his roles on the board of directors at yahoo and Alibaba group according to reports on the yahoo.com site and arbriton.com.
In his parting shot that was communicated in a letter, Jerry Yang was quite grateful for having experienced amazing and rewarding experiences in his life while at the leadership mantle of the very company he founded 17 years prior to this date.
Yahoo was founded by Jerry and his fellow student counterpart David Filo in 1994 while they were still studying at Stanford University.
Initially, their creation was called “David and Jerry’s guide to the world wide web” but they later changed it to Yahoo which in full stands for “Yet another Hierarchical Officious Oracle.” Out of their playfulness and intellectual prowess as students then, Yahoo Inc was born in 1995.
Described as visionary, dedicated, a strategic and fore planner, Jerry Yang deserves all these attributes. Buyout offers of different inducements were offered to the two but were hastily turned down by the duo with claims that they founded the site “to have fun and enjoyment.”
With all such colourful attributes, what was least expected at such a time when Yahoo is positively evolving was the sudden news of his (Jerry Yang's) departure from a company he founded and toiled with until it got where it is now. For all his efforts, Jerry Yang can be applauded as one of the greatest contributors to the Internet industry as a whole.
Scott Thompson is now the C.E.O of yahoo and it is in our greatest hopes that he steers the company to greater heights in the absence of Jerry Yang just like Tim Cook is doing with Apple in the absence of the Mighty Steve Jobs. R.I.P
